Avalon Clare was born and raised in the Wild West, where horseback riding and daydreaming were her two favorite pastimes. The hardest and most rewarding thing she ever did was move away from her home and her childhood to Philadelphia to study illustration. Although she still yearns for the west, she has also grown quite fond of her new home in South Philly, where she now regularly enjoys vector drawing, riding her bicycle, and believing in unicorns.

She graduated from the University of the Arts with a BFA in Illustration in May of 2008. Awards and recognition include the Society of Illustrators in LA's Illustration West 46, and a nomination for the Ted Carey Prize.
